At Forest Park Baptist Church, we believe that the Bible is the ultimate authority for our faith and practice. As we seek to live out the teachings of the Bible, we recognize the importance of being in agreement with one another as members of the body of Christ. That's why we have a covenant - a statement of shared beliefs and commitments that we make as a church family. Our covenant serves as a guide for our relationships with one another and with the world around us, and helps us to live out the gospel in a way that honors God and reflects his love to others. We invite you to learn more about our covenant and the values it represents as you explore this page.

Forest Park Baptist Church's Covenant

Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, Lord, and Treasure and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We will, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, walk together in Christian love, maintaining the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace among this fellowship.

We will strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort, and to promote its prosperity and spirituality.

We will walk together in brotherly love, exercising an affectionate care and watchfulness over each other, and faithfully encourage, exhort, and pray for one another.

We will rejoice at one another’s happiness, and with tenderness and sympathy, bear one another’s burdens and sorrows.

We will serve one another, using the gifts God has granted to us through the Holy Spirit that this fellowship would be built up in Christ.

We will be actively involved in the weekly congregational worship of this church and contribute cheerfully and regularly to the expenses of the church, the work of the ministry, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel to all the nations.

We will constantly renew our minds to the truth of God’s holy Word, remembering that we were born again by his grace, having been brought into his kingdom in order that we should walk in holiness in the world, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts.

We will be zealous in our corporate and individual efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior through the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ among all peoples and to seek the salvation of our family, friends, and acquaintances.

We will strive to bring up our children and any under our care in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

We will submit ourselves to the discipline of this fellowship as we seek to live to the glory of God, who has called us out of darkness into his marvelous light.

We will, when we move from this place, unite with another church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

We will encourage one another to patiently wait for the return of Jesus Christ, for the resurrection of the dead, and for all things to be made new.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.
